PAST EXHIBITIONS & RESIDENCIES

Regine Schumann

Since graduating from art school in 1989 the German  artist Regine Schumann has been pre-occupied with   colour, light and space. She has received many commissions and awards throughout Europe and we are delighted that Regine Schumann agreed to be our first artist to realise a site-specific project in the Colonnade. Asked to design a project for the building, while at the same time taking into consideration the time of the year, Regine Schumann proposed a work called Glow Worms. Consisting of 600 red bicycle flashlights placed in and around the Colonnade the work relates and responds to the architectural features of the building.  As all the lights are independently powered, different rhythms and chance light sequences develop creating ever-changing echoes and traces of the interior space.
